Brief Profile

Dr. Tauqir Ahmad Khan, Director General (Regional Services) at Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU), Islamabad, Pakistan, is a distinguished academic and administrator with an extensive background in educational matters. He holds a Ph.D. from Punjab University Lahore and a Masters and M.Phil. from Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad. Dr. Tauqir began his career as a lecturer in the Higher Education Department of the Government of Punjab. In 2007, he joined AIOU, where he has since held several key leadership roles. His tenure at AIOU’s Regional Campuses in Multan, Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Attock showcased his leadership, management, and academic expertise in overseeing educational operations, assessment and support services across multiple regions.

He later remained Controller of Examinations for more than two years at AIOU’s main campus in Islamabad and supervised all examinations and allied matters throughout Pakistan/ abroad where he ensured the smooth, efficient, and compliant conduct of examinations, upholding academic integrity.
Currently, as Director General Regional Services, Dr. Tauqir leads the prestigious Directorate which serves nearly one million students annually. This directorate manages a vast network of 53 regional campuses across Pakistan, providing educational facilities and student support services directly to communities. In this role, he demonstrates his strategic vision, administrative expertise, and dedication to advancing AIOU’s mission of delivering accessible, high-quality education at the doorstep.
